How SlabProof Works
Register your slab, apply a seal, tap to attach it. Anyone can tap to check it after that.
Your slab gets a provenance record.
A tamper-evident NFC seal is applied to the holder.
Any phone can tap the seal to check the record and seal status. No app needed.
Seal your slab in 7 steps
- 1
Register your slab
Go to Register and enter the grader, cert number, card, grade and year.
Free for your first slab. You'll get a SlabProof ID and a public record page.
- 2
Order seals
Order seals from the Order Seals page. Minimum 25.
They arrive ready to use — nothing to program, no app to install.
- 3
Prepare the holder
Wipe the holder with a dry, lint-free cloth so it's clean and dry.
Don't cover the grader's label, cert number or hologram.
- 4
Apply the seal
Follow the placement guide in your seal pack. Press firmly for about 30 seconds.
Tamper seals are built so that removing or peeling them, or opening the holder, breaks the seal — and the next tap will show it.
- 5
Tap the seal with your phone
iPhone: hold the top edge of the phone to the seal. Android: make sure NFC is on, then hold the middle of the back of the phone to the seal.
A SlabProof page opens in your browser.
- 6
Attach it to your slab
Sign in if asked (then tap again — each tap's link only works once). Choose the slab, confirm, done.
Your record now shows Level 2 with the date you applied the seal.
- 7
Share and sell
Share your public record link in listings. When you sell, use Transfer from your dashboard.
The seal stays with the slab and the transfer is added to its chain of custody.
Once attached, a seal stays with that slab permanently. One seal per slab.
Checking a slab in 10 seconds
- 1
Tap the seal with your phone
iPhone: hold the top edge of the phone to the seal. Android: make sure NFC is on, then hold the middle of the back of the phone to the seal.
- 2
Match the details
Compare what you see on screen to the slab in your hand: grader, cert number, card, grade.
- 3
Check the seal status
Look for the seal status line: Intact, Opened, or Not a tamper seal.
What the result means
The seal is authentic and hasn't been opened since it was applied. Compare the details.
The seal was opened or removed after it was applied. Ask the seller why before buying.
You opened a copied or old link (a screenshot or shared URL). Tap the physical seal again.
The tag may be damaged or not a SlabProof seal. Don't rely on it. You can report it.
This seal has been turned off. Ask the seller.
The seal hasn't been linked to a slab yet. A seller should attach it before selling.
Be careful: a QR code, printed link or screenshot is not the same as tapping the seal. Only a live tap of the physical seal checks it.

Who applied the seal — and why it matters
Registry Record
Owner-attested provenance record. No physical seal.
Owner/Dealer Applied
Seal applied by the owner or dealer. Tamper-evident from the date applied. Does not independently confirm what was inside when it was sealed.
